Windrush 70th Public Service Day

We had the opportunity to attend an event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the Windrush being held  at Tally-Ho Birmingham on Monday 18th June 2018.

The Windrush arrival symbolizes the historical beginnings of British multiculturalism. This laid the foundation for the Equality Act 2010 as it highlighted the gaps  in the British law regarding equality rights in past years.

There were charity organisations and public services from across West Midlands which took part in open public event.

The day was informative and a great opportunity for us to meet people and the remembrance of the history of the Windrush generation, as 70 years ago The HMT Empire Windrush docked at the Port of Tilbury, near London carrying 492 passengers from Jamaica.
